Abstract

Various defects reported during service of a military low bypass turbofan engine over a period are highlighted and their trend is presented in this paper. Causes of these defects are investigated and remedial measures are incorporated to address these issues. Proper maintenance of the engines at engine factory and at operational base as well as strict adherence to the operational limitations will help in reducing the defects maintaining high reliability and safety.
